▪ DESCRIPTION

The CRYSTALLINE is a commercial building that is situated in a primary area on a main artery street that feeds into an industrial zone in Kuwait. The project aim was to create an identity on an existing structure, preparing it to wear an intelligent skin that not only gives a standing out character to the building, but have a double property to reflect and filter in light creating a mesh that forms its self to generate openings, roof top rails, light channels and angulates to protrude signage.

The CRYSTALLINE challenge was to also work with stone as a secondary material. The two materials, stainless steel being one and stone being the second, blend together starting from the offset flooring and snakes around the building also allowing greenery to crawl on. The building is divided into 3 sections – The Observatory – that has the main commercial largest spaces, gallery and roof top, The Plaza – which opens up to a middle court allowing few commercial spaces to utilize an outdoor space which will also raise the lease value, The Rear – which contains typical commercial spaces at the back. The basement can be utilized as a gym or a storage and the mezzanine will also hold offices.
